The Importance of Eco-Friendly Materials

Doubly Sustainable Products

At greenbox, the eco-friendly materials we use play a significant role in the sustainability management of our company. Our merways® Family products are made up of 98 percent biobased and compostable substances derived from renewable resources. This helps to conserve limited resources. Additionally, our reusable items are free from melamine and Bisphenol A (BPA). Due to the high lignocellulose content of 40 percent, a natural antibacterial effect is created. The natural fibers used come exclusively from European forestry, which helps avoid long transport routes.

Environmentally Friendly Through Repeated Use

By using our reusable tableware multiple times, we alleviate environmental impact and save on packaging costs and licensing fees. Our products provide a genuine alternative to conventional disposable items. We are committed to ecological sustainability in our development efforts without losing sight of economic considerations

Natural Fibers

... for a Unique Look:

We believe that less plastic is better, and that’s why 40 percent of our products consist of natural fibers. These fibers are byproducts, or rather leftovers from production processes. Using lignocellulose is not only environmentally sound but also gives our reusable products a distinctive look. The resulting natural antibacterial effect is particularly important when these products are used in the foodservice industry.

Biopolymer

... as a Sustainable Alternative:

The remaining 60 percent of the unique material used in our products consists of biobased plastics. These biopolymers belong to the group of biodegradable polymers derived from renewable resources. They offer a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics, helping to reduce plastic waste and environmental impact. Only 2 percent of additives are used to create a strong bond between natural fibers and biopolymers.

Bio-Compound

... for Safe Food Use:

The composite material of natural fibers and bioplastic that results from this process is known as Bio-Compound. It is a granulate that is molded into the shape of the respective product using a special injection molding process in the final step. Since Bio-Compound is entirely free from melamine and BPA, it is completely safe for food use and poses no risk to human health.

Expertise in Eco-Friendly Materials

Take advantage of our extensive expertise in biobased plastics such as Polylactides (PLA), Crystalized PLA (CPLA), biobased Polyethylene (PE), and Polypropylene (PP), as well as Natural Fiber Composites (NFC), and the use of recycled polymers like r-PET. A solid understanding of these eco-friendly materials is crucial, especially when the manufactured products will come into direct contact with food. Thanks to our expertise in injection molding and mold making, we can develop and produce items outside of our standard range. Please feel free to contact us for personalized inquiries and information.
